Phill Jupitus

PHILL JUPITUS - EXPERT JUDGE

Phill Jupitus is a regular on television and radio panel shows, including "QI", "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" and of course long time captain on "Never Mind The Buzzcocks".

Jupitus is also a DJ, both on the radio and at clubs and festivals, a fan of alternative music styles. He presented the weekday breakfast show on digital radio station BBC 6 Music for 5 years, and recently he has presented some of the BBC's television coverage of music events, such as the Glastonbury Festival.

Phill Jupitus began his performing career in 1984, when he quit working in a Job Centre to become a left-wing punk poet, going by the name Porky The Poet. - He did the rounds of pubs and universities, supporting bands including The Style Council, The Housemartins and Billy Bragg. He then spent some time at Go! Discs as a press officer, and as his poetry turned into comedy, Jupitus remained linked to the music scene, with his big TV break coming in 1996, when he joined BBC2's pop quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks as a regular team captain.

If anyone knows about being a presenter, this man does. We're delighted to welcome Phill to the panel of judges for "The Lowdown".
